On the Drive Home

Fairly late last night, i passed by what has become my church with the sign.  Last  night, it read:

"Christians Never See Each Other For the Last Time"

It's such an interesting way of seeing reality.  I wish I could imagine things so absolutely.  As it is, I enjoy reading the signs.  It makes for an interesting ride home.

The Trouble With Trouble

Last night, driving home, I went by a church and read the sign out front for this Sunday's sermon as I passed by.  "The trouble with trouble," it said, "is it starts as fun."

I thought about that the rest of the way home.  "I wish I could like churches more," I thought, "but if they continue to pair pleasure with guilt and sad consequences, I'm not likely to go."  I thought of times when trouble was simply trouble and fun was purely fun and when something started out as trouble and became fun.  "The trouble with these signs," I thought, "Is that a slogan will never be able to completely sum something up."
