Every couple of years, I read this book again. It's beautifully written. It's unlike any other book that I've read by Stephen King. It's psychological and sociological in nature. It talks about creativity. It's a ghost story that involves a community.
In brief, the main character, Mike Noonan, has recently lost his wife. She died suddenly and mysteriously. He is trying to figure out what happened. He is also trying to write. Noonan is a very successful writer who hits a writer's block that he can't seem to overcome. He has a secret backlog of books that he's saved in case of emergency. When books are due, he send in one of his stash.
Noonan decides to seek refuge in their vacation home in Maine. Supernatural activities ensue. The book is about Noonan resolving all of these troubles.
Every time I read this book, I think it should be a movie. There are rumors of a miniseries. I hope to someday see it. In the meantime, every now and then, I will read Bag of Bones.
