Raw Food

I read this article in the Chronicle today about the merits of giving your animals raw food.

When my cat, Pumpkin grew ill, I was urged by someone to go this route, but after thinking about it, I chose not to.  I have a small refrigerator with a tiny freezer.  At that point, my cat was having a hard time eating anything.  I thought--and maybe I was wrong--that this would be too great a transition for her, even if I had the proper freezer.

This article made me revisit this matter again.  I know many people who love their animals, whose cats are healthy and seem happy, who feed these critters some variation of "kitty crack"--the term used in the article for kibble--and some canned food that would not fall on their list of what's appropriate for a cat to eat.  It just seemed to me that with the person I talked to and in this article, that the picture is painted in such black and white terms, it's hard to find where exactly the truth is.
